7 DAYS & COUNTING DB’S

By Bandit Staff • Jun 21st, 2010 • Category: BANDIT INSIDER

AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL HAS PLANES LOCKED DOWN

The Bandits defense plays with a few general understanding, the skies are not safe for enemies WR’s and the QB can’t throw off his back. As the Bandits get closer to start of the season the stability in the secondary is a huge reason the defense will find success in 2010. This years group of Defensive Backs is impressive starting with Greg Horowitz #1, Laroy Warner #7, Michael Drew #22, Mike Sanchez #23, Steph Martin #24, Marquis Williams #28 and Jose Serrano #43.

Greg Horowitz #1 : Greg is a solid student of the game and a missile with sites set squarely on the opponent. He can play anywhere as his desire to compete and strong knowledge of the game always puts him in the right place. Greg is a staple on specials, he can long snap and is the teams backup kicker. He will also be featured in the depth this season at the RB position look for #1 everywhere in 2010.

Laroy Warner #7: Warner aka “POP” is the free spirit hard hitter in the Bandit Secondary. He is a downhill hammer and a force in the run game. The past two season Warner made a statement becoming a starter that oddly enough wasn’t even listed in 2008 depth chart that season. “It was an error on our behalf not having POP listed, Warner made it a mission to make sure everyone knew his name the last two seasons”, says Coach Billy Badson. Look up when you run into the hole because his #7 may look like a big L if you lose and are feeling a little dizzy.

Michael Drew #22: Michael is a strong looking rookie that is a great story. He and his father (also on roster) has followed the team for over 10 years. So the team he enjoyed watching as a young man is the team his calls his own as an adult.  Look for Lil Drew here in 2010.

Mike Sanchez #23: Mike is a monster, he is a returning captain, a strong leader on the field and even stronger leader off the field. His steady play has made this young man a staple in NYC for years the results of starting to playing at such a early age. He became a captain a few seasons ago and is one of the players the teams needs to go. No need to talk about his play on the field as every opposing WR and QB know his name and number already.

Steph Martin #24: Steph is Steph, you can almost stop right there for most avid fans. He is a solid player, a true student of the game and a monster on the right side of the defense. He has an attitude that is second to know. “I am just a player, they tell me to pick cotton and I will do just that”, said by the man himself. He is a great Bandit and a good man in general. Don’t throw any screens or the balls to his side of the field and your offense will have a small chance at success.

Marquis Williams #28: If semi-pro accolades where money then ICE only does this for fun as the man is a millionaire over and over on the football field and in life. A 4X Bandit Champion and long time Captain keep your head up because #28 surely knows were you are in his secondary. “ICE has been here for 11 seasons and he makes coming to work, great, he has played all over the field for the uniform and does it all saying the simply phrase BLUE PRIDE”

Jose Serrano #43: Jose was a long shot to make the team but if you can’t make our roster after demonstrating a passion and a commitment to “HARD WORK PAYS” then the team isn’t doing the right thing. Jose will roam the skies on special teams during the 2010 season.
