FITNESS CENTER

With the Holidays well past us and the SuperBowl over it is now time to start preparing for your trip to San Diego and the 2010 Season. It would be wise to start flushing your body from all the extra sugars, fat and alcohol that was consumed over the last few weeks and that is easily accomplished. Immediately double your water intake. You are going to need to be fully hydrated for our upcoming workouts and, contrary to popular belief, that process takes time.

Decrease your use of alcohol and intake of fatty, sugary foods. Focus on eating as many fresh vegetables and fruit as you can each day and try to stick to lean proteins (fish, chicken, eggs). Try to avoid processed foods (canned, boxed) as much as possible. Make the switch from white to whole grain/wheat breads, pastas, rice etc. It’s not as hard as you think. Two

weeks of proper hydration, fresh foods, whole grains and lean proteins will go a very long way in flushing built up toxins and preparing your body for the upcoming training and your trip across the country.

As far as the physical aspect goes – begin simple stretching and do as much running as you can – outdoors, on a treadmill or make simple changes like taking the stairs instead of the elevator or parking further away from your destination and walk. Winter tends to make us all docile and I need you to start moving. If you are heavy lifting at this time, please reduce your weight and increase your reps and begin stretching as your muscles will be especially tight.

Please email me with any questions and concerns or if you have any nagging physical injuries or issues that I need to know about before the beginning of camp – NOT AT THE CAMP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DRILLS PLEASE!!!
